Originally from Schoharie, New York, Sergeant First Class Lori Roy holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan and Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Performance from Ithaca College. She is also currently working towards her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Prior to joining The U.S. Army Field Band in 2017, SFC Roy served as Lecturer of Horn at the University of Nevada, Reno, and was the tenured Second Horn with the Boise Philharmonic. She has been a featured soloist with many groups, including the Boise Philharmonic, the TOCCATA Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, and the University of Nevada, Reno Wind Ensemble. An advocate of music education, SFC Roy taught horn at the Lake Tahoe Music Camp and worked extensively with youth orchestras, All-State groups, and local schools in the Reno-Tahoe area. Her primary teachers include Randy Gardner, Adam Unsworth, Alex Shuhan, and Patrice Malatestinic.
